How I got here

I found Rolfing when I had lower back issues that limited my movement and left me in pain. I was in physical therapy for 3 months and not improving. A chiropractor I had been seeing referred me to a Rolfer when I found no relief from other forms of bodywork.

I had a microdiscectomy in college from a herniated disc which was causing sciatic pain. Apparently, the scar tissue from the surgery was causing restrictions in my connective tissue (which the Rolfer referred to as Fascia). I went through the ten series and as my body alignment was starting to restore, I felt lighter, more mobile and more upright in my body - and in life as well.

It was then I studied Rolfing with a special focus on Core Integration and how releasing strains in the VISCERAL and CRANIAL fascia can enhance the organization and function of the core, spine, pelvis and extremities while understanding the impact these restrictions can have on mobility and muscle pain.

When I was 40, I was in a car accident. The doctors, X-rays and MRIs showed that there was nothing wrong with me, however, I had balance and vision problems, constant pressure on the side of my head, and inability to use my arms without experiencing pain and weakness. I was upper body dominant and, at that point, loved to parkour, rock climb, ski, practice yoga, and kayak but taking part in any of those activities made the symptoms worse.

In spite of my balance issues, lower body movements were manageable, so, I learned how to salsa and argentine tango, and spent my time practicing tai chi. It's been quite a journey of self-observation and awareness while incorporating slow and mindful movements. Through this experience, I have expanded my understanding of integrating modalities according to the individual's needs.

These integrative modalities include: visceral, cranial sacral, somato-emotional/trauma, energetic applied kinesiology, functional neurology, neurokinetic therapy, TCM elements such as meridians and acupuncture points, movement therapy and Scar Tissue work.

I understand how not feeling at ease in our bodies can hold us back from activities we enjoy or how simply interacting with people and our environment can be overwhelming. Through bringing together different modalities, it enables us to connect our structural, emotional and conscious aspects to stimulate our own innate healing ability.

I highly recommend working a practitioner that understands how to integrate the release of tension in the tissue (whether it be through structural, visceral, cranial work) with movement to re-educate the neurological and body-mind connection.

My goal is to help you restore fluidity in your body, find relief from pain patterns, feel length and lightness in your stride, gain more mobility and alignment, and help YOU move more effortlessly through life. It's worth your time!
